Tara Management Private Ltd. (TMPL) is the Group’s Corporate Office that acts as the custodian of the two holding companies which have investments in the companies across the Group. TMPL manages the investments of the following two holding companies :
Surya Enterprises Private Ltd.
SR Holdings Private Ltd.
The main role and function of the Corporate Office is to maximise shareholder value for the holding companies. In doing so, it remains in close touch with the operating companies by participating in Budgets and Performance Reviews, monitoring Corporate Finance, Legal and Secretarial matters, Business Development, Tax and Audit functions. Furthermore, TMPL ensures that all corporate compliances are met and adhered to. In addition, TMPL also directly manages the two Private Equity Funds:
Surya Fund Private Ltd. (SUPL) is mainly invested in the Bhote Koshi Power Company
Tara Fund Private Ltd. (TFPL) is wholly invested in the Bhote Koshi Power Company and was created as a vehicle to purchase the shares previously held by IFC Washington.
The Group is the local promoter of Surya Nepal Private Ltd. (SNPL). This is a joint venture with ITC Ltd., India and British American Tobacco Ltd., United Kingdom, and is now a subsidiary of ITC Ltd. The company is one of the largest private sector companies in Nepal and also one of the largest contributors to the country’s exchequer. It is in the business of Cigarettes, Safety Matches, Agarbatti and Readymade Garments.
